Hertfordshire NHS - Cheshunt

3 surgery and decontamination room fit-out for Cheshunt Community Hospital as a follow on project from their Hemel Hempstead health centre refurbishment.

Hertfordshire NHS - Cheshunt

Background

Cheshunt Community Hospital opened a new dental clinic designed for patients with special needs as part of its mission to improve healthcare provision in the region. These needs include physical and learning disabilities and medical conditions.

Hertfordshire Special Care Dental Service is an award-winning community dental service which is part of Hertfordshire Community Trust (HCT).

Billericay based property and construction consultancy, Ingleton Wood, had been appointed to provide project management. We were asked to join the team and work with the architect and main contractor following on from our previous project at The Marlowes Health and Wellbeing Centre, Hertfordshire Community Trust were keen to use us again for this project.

Solution

The new, state-of-the-art, dental suite will provide modern and specialist dental care to patients with special needs across Hertfordshire. We fitted out 3 surgeries plus clean and dirty decontamination rooms.

The chairs we installed are Belmont 055 Clair chairs with a Clesta II E Mobile Cart and Durr suction system.

One of the surgeries is a special needs room and incorporates a hoist and space for a bariatric chair for future installation.

New design features:

  • Additional accessibility with wheelchair and step free access
  • Bigger dental chairs which are designed to allow easier access for those with special needs
  • Improved ventilation systems with large-scale air handling units to provide high standards of indoor air quality

Una Monaghan, the clinical director of special care dental service at Hertfordshire Community Trust, said: “We are so pleased with our wonderful new clinic and have had a lot of very positive comments from our patients.”
