Dental Cabinets for Surgeries & Decontamination Rooms

Our guide to dental cabinetry including design, layout, compliance, materials and colours. With images of modern surgeries and decontamination areas.

Dental Cabinetry

Every Dental Practice is unique and every Dental Professional works in a different way in technique and speciality. This makes the dental surgery cabinetry very important for practicality and aesthetics.

At Eclipse Dental, we are devoted to providing our customers with unparalleled quality of service, which is why we supply and install completely bespoke dental surgery and decontamination room cabinetry.

Our design team and fitters can create any appearance and feel that you are looking for. The cabinets we provide are modern and minimal, with clean lines and defined features, so they create a treatment room which does not look like the run-of-the-mill surgery. There are unique lighting options, styles and materials available for wall units, drawers and work surfaces including handle-less designs. And our Italian design range of cabinets are much the same as Italian cars and clothing, they are a premium product which conveys style and precision.

Design and layout

The dental cabinetry layout must create an efficient working environment which is also aesthetic and memorable. Our team are meticulous at understanding the dental professional's needs and discussing all of the factors involved in the design and compliance.

These are some of the key matters we address:

  • Minimise clutter
  • Staff work flows
  • Worktop materials
  • HTM and CQC compliance
  • Durability, colour scheme and design

If the room is a dental surgery:

  • Sterilisation and decontamination
  • Use of surgery for specialist treatments
  • Patient Access
  • Potential use of mobile cabinetry
  • Left / right-handed or Ambidextrous treatment centre
  • Other equipment in the room (delivery system, x-ray, plant machinery)

If the area is for dedicated decontamination:

  • How many surgeries the room is serving
  • What equipment will be used
  • Instruments
  • Storage
  • Clean and dirty separation
  • Air flows

An important aspect of layout is utilising the space available. In most surgeries and decontamination rooms space is challenging to find. They are rarely large enough to meet all of the requirements, although our design team are adept at creating space where none seemed to exist. These are examples of our solutions :–

We also have experience working alongside architects and building teams, supplying them with as much of our knowledge as they need. And in this Case Study at Finn Dental we worked together with the designer to create an outstanding surgery with a contemporary feel, yet sympathetic to the 1930’s style surroundings.

Ranges

The Reno range of cabinetry has been designed to be very competitive at the budget end of the market, although the quality of this range has been kept to a high standard.

The post formed laminated worktops with integral swept upstands are supplied as standard although it is possible to upgrade to our Hanex and Vista solid surface range with top mounted stainless-steel bowls or at an additional cost our bespoke Hanex or Corian range with integrated Corian bowls. Optional units can be manufactured to include wall cupboards and mobiles.

The Monterey range of cabinetry is designed for clients who require the benefit of solid acrylic fronts at competitive prices. The doors and drawer fronts are produced from 18 mm solid Apollo acrylic. There are approximately 20 colours to choose from to be coordinated to any surgery design.

As an option you can upgrade your surgery to include Vista, Corian and Hanex range of worktops and bowls.

Finn dental cabinetry

The Sedona Range of cabinetry has been designed for the Dental Practice that requires both style and quality. The units are manufactured in a maximum of four units to each free-standing run.

The doors and drawer fronts are produced in 18 mm Apollo solid acrylic with our touch-out facility thus avoiding the necessity of handles which is exceptional for hygiene and easier cleaning. The Corian solid surface worktops feature a 65mm front frame band and incorporates solid surface ends and base trims which are complimentary and appealing.

The Decontamination range meets all requirements set out on the HTM 01-05 guidelines. All carcasses are manufactured in 18 mm mdf and have an under worktop height of 900 mm which includes a higher plinth of 150 mm to allow for the dental practice to incorporate all the necessary equipment needed in a decontamination area.

There is a choice of solid surface tops - Hanex, Corian, all with solid surface bowls or stainless steel including no overflows to meet requirements.

The Mobile range has 4,5,6 or 7 Drawer versions made of metal construction (lighter and stronger than wood thus more suitable for mobile units), Corian worksurface with integrated pull-handles and a powder coated finish.

Bespoke designs can also incorporate curved cabinetry and work tops, and there are variations and adaptations that we will incorporate to meet specific needs and preferences. Limelight is our bespoke range and offers solid surface worktops and cappings with Vinyl wrapped fascias. Soft-close doors and drawers for a more hygienic and contemporary look, Corian sinks - (round dentists and rectangular nurses), drawer and tray storage units and a nurse’s mixing module. This range also includes double socket outlets in up-stand and a deluxe cable management insert.

Materials

Modern materials are now much more durable than the laminated work surfaces they are replacing. Solid surface materials such as Corian are non-porous, stain and heat resistant, and being homogeneous can be repaired and renewed with a seamless appearance.

Another surface material mentioned above is Hanex, which again is stain, impact and heat resistant. Easy to fabricate and install and stronger than stone. It is an excellent material for dental surgeries as it is also resistant to bacteria and can be renewed and repaired.
