A basement at Guildford Orthodontics in Surrey was converted into two surgeries, a decontamination room and staff room to increase clinical capacity within an existing Victorian practice.
Guildford Orthodontics is based in a three-storey 19th century Victorian building in Guildford. The practice provides treatment for children and adults, including Invisalign and lingual braces.
Its team focuses on efficient, comfortable care supported by modern equipment and software.
We had previously refurbished and converted surgeries at the practice. This project was carried out to make better use of the basement and create two additional surgeries, a decontamination room and staff room.
The new rooms needed to match the specification of the existing surgeries. The basement setting also required coordination with a specialist basement conversion company so the dental fit-out could work around the wider building works.

The surgeries were fitted with bespoke cabinetry, Corian worktops, integral sinks, clinical flooring, suction, compressed air, air conditioning and LED cabinetry lighting.
A dedicated decontamination room was also installed with Limelight cabinetry, Corian worktops and stainless steel sinks.
Belmont chairs were selected for the surgeries, including a Compass Vac Pac arrangement suited to orthodontic treatment as it does not require a spittoon.
The completed basement conversion gave Guildford Orthodontics two additional treatment rooms, a dedicated decontamination area and improved staff facilities. The specification followed the finish used elsewhere in the practice, helping the new clinical areas feel connected to the existing surgeries.
For the clinical team, the project created extra capacity in a building where space had to be used carefully. For patients, the practice gained additional treatment areas while keeping the same calm, considered environment. The investment also gives the practice more room to support future demand.
