A specialist suction pump replacement project for Royal Surrey County Hospital, delivered with minimal disruption and full infection control compliance.
This project was a follow-up to our earlier work at the Orthodontic Polyclinic Department at Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford, where we had previously delivered a complete redesign.
That initial project included the supply and installation of a standalone multichair dental suite, along with mechanical and electrical works, flooring, decorating and glass partitioning for patient privacy.
As part of their continued development and investment in clinical infrastructure, the hospital returned to us to address an essential plant upgrade—the replacement of their suction system.
We supplied and installed a Cattani Turbo Smart 2V Tandem Suction System, upgrading the hospital’s existing setup to improve performance and reliability.
The project included the removal of the old pumps, installation of the new tandem suction plant, and replacement of the suction line pipework with a larger diameter for better capacity and efficiency.
We also added mechanical ventilation to the existing plant enclosure in line with manufacturer recommendations, wiring it into the hospital’s existing 240v supply.
The exhaust pipework was modified, with new connections made and HEPA anti-bacterial filters installed to ensure compliance with infection control standards.
Our team also carried out a full investigation and reinstatement of the timer on the existing control panel and provided staff training to ensure ease of use.
All works were carefully planned and project managed in-house, with a clear focus on keeping downtime to an absolute minimum.
