A unique two-surgery refurbishment for an East Sussex community. This project delivered new cabinetry, flooring and specialist fittings designed for practical daily use while preserving a calm, functional aesthetic.
The Darvell Bruderhof community, based in Robertsbridge, East Sussex, is home to around 300 residents and includes its own on-site dental practice.
Founded in 1971, the community is self-sustaining and funded by Community Playthings, a business known worldwide for producing classroom and play equipment.
The practice provides essential care to the residents and needed a refurbishment to improve functionality and hygiene while maintaining a simple, clean design that aligns with the community’s values.
The project involved upgrading two surgeries with new cabinetry, flooring and specialist equipment integration, while carefully managing the removal and reinstallation of the existing dental chairs.
We managed the entire two-surgery refurbishment, starting with the careful removal and temporary relocation of both dental chairs and delivery systems to allow flooring and cabinetry installation. Each chair and unit was later reinstalled with new suction manifolds and arms for improved performance.
Custom Limelight dental cabinetry was installed throughout, featuring Corian Vista 38mm solid surface worktops and cappings for durability and hygiene. The cabinetry included specialised items such as a mobile drawer unit with built-in suction, designed to enhance flexibility and usability for the dental team.
New Gerflor Metalica multilayered flooring was fitted with capped and coved edges for infection control. Stainless steel sinks and two HyGe smart dispensers were installed to support day-to-day hygiene and efficiency.
The refurbished surgeries now provide a clean, efficient and welcoming environment that reflects the Bruderhof community’s commitment to care and simplicity. The new cabinetry layout, integrated suction and flooring improve workflow and hygiene while maintaining a sense of calm and order.
By combining modern materials with practical design, the upgraded surgeries allow the Darvell dental team to continue providing high-quality treatment in a space built to last.
